At Secret Escapes, we curate unforgettable travel experiences, and behind every trip is a commitment to safety, trust, and smart risk management. We’re looking for a proactive Legal Operations & Compliance Analyst to serve as the vital bridge between our legal strategy and day-to-day operations in our Poland office. In this role, you’ll streamline our workflows and translate complex regulatory shifts into efficient, compliant processes that protect the business while keeping us moving fast. If you’re a data-driven problem-solver who enjoys turning legal requirements into operational excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
About Secret Escapes
Secret Escapes is one of the world’s leading members-only, online travel deals companies, offering inspiring travel experiences and hand-picked offers to over 60 million members worldwide.
Operating in 10 countries across Europe, Secret Escapes continues to grow and establish itself as a world-class business, dedicated to giving our members the best range and value in luxury travel deals at low prices.
The Role & What You’ll Do
- Policy Stewardship: Review, update, and implement compliance policies and internal procedures, ensuring they aren’t just legal documents but living guides that align with the latest laws.
- Horizon Scanning: Actively monitor the global regulatory landscape (GDPR, Modern Slavery, Anti-Bribery, etc.) and international travel guidance to advise the business on how to pivot our strategy or operations.
- Orchestrating Due Diligence: Guide the end-to-end compliance process for our partners and hotels, ensuring that Health & Safety standards are met before our members even check in.
- Navigating Risk: Define risk categories for various excursions and empower our Sales and Customer Service teams with clear guidance on acceptable risk levels.
- Portfolio Vigilance: Keep a close eye on high-risk excursions and perform regular website “spot checks” to ensure our dream holidays always meet our high internal standards and legal requirements.
- Safeguarding through Controls: Coordinate compliance monitoring and audit activities to test our internal processes, ensuring we’re always as secure as we think we are.
- Incident Response & Support: Lend your expertise to the investigation and documentation of compliance-related incidents, helping to coordinate swift responses that protect both the member and the business.
- Knowledge Sharing & Empowerment: Develop and deliver engaging compliance training programs that make regulatory risks and internal policies clear and accessible for everyone at Secret Escapes.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the vital link between the Legal team and the wider business, partnering with Finance, Tech, and Product teams to implement new controls smoothly.
The Team
We are a team that helps the business with a huge range of different issues, working at pace to provide practical, actionable advice. We believe in working smart; we value progress over perfection and are happy accepting what’s ‘good’ to keep the business moving rather than waiting for ‘perfect’. We adopt an increasingly data-driven approach to our function and are constantly challenging our ways of working to be as efficient as possible within our small, close-knit team.
You Will Bring
- Proven experience in legal operations, governance, risk management, compliance, or a similar field where you’ve ensured things are done the right way.
- Travel Industry Familiarity: A solid understanding of—or a deep curiosity for—the unique regulatory and safety challenges of the travel world.
- A Collaborative Foundation: Confidence working with diverse teams across different time zones and a knack for building professional bridges.
- Analytical Sharpness: Strong problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to identifying and mitigating risk.
- Operational Awareness: While not essential, an understanding of legal or procurement processes is helpful—we are more than happy to help you learn the rest.
- Tech-Savvy Mindset: Proficiency with legal technology and data tools is encouraged as we look to automate and improve our effectiveness.
And You Are…
- A High-Ownership Operator: You don’t just flag problems; you own the solution. You thrive when given the autonomy to drive projects forward.
- Naturally Proactive: You have a “see it, fix it” mindset, anticipating roadblocks before they appear.
- Detail-Oriented: You take pride in the accuracy of your work, knowing that in compliance, small details have significant safety implications.
- A Versatile Communicator: You can translate “legal-speak” into plain English for our commercial teams and “operational-speak” back into risk reports.
- A True Team Player: You build relationships across the business to help other teams hit their goals safely.
- Risk-Aware: You possess a healthy scepticism and a “safety-first” lens to balance our company’s sense of adventure.
Working Requirements
- Hybrid Working: 3 days in our Warsaw office and 2 days from home.
- Flexible Hours: We offer flexible working with core hours between 10 am to 4 pm, giving you the freedom to schedule the remaining hours to suit your routine.
- Work From Anywhere: Secret Escapes operates a “Work from Anywhere” policy, so you can work from anywhere in the world for up to 4 weeks each year! This benefit is designed both to feed our travel passion and support parents and carers, especially during school holidays.
We are an equal opportunity employer:
Diversity and inclusion are important to us at Secret Escapes and we encourage a culture where everyone can be themselves at work. We value and actively seek out a richly diverse range of talent and our policies ensure that every job application and employee is treated fairly, with equal opportunity to succeed.
